The Local Resident Scheme offers a significant discount on the Crossing charge for cars to those residents who can confirm their eligibility. For an annual registration fee of £10 you will receive a DART-Tag, be given your first 50 journeys free of charge and, as long as you have credit on your account, any further journeys will be at the discounted rate of 20p. To find out more about this scheme, conditions for eligibility and how to apply, you can click on the left hand menu option "Local Resident Scheme".
If you drive a vehicle that is exempt from payment of the Toll Charges at the Dartford-Thurrock
Crossing, you can now pre-register that vehicle into the Exemption Scheme. To find out if
your vehicle is exempt, please read Schedule 4 of the A282 Trunk Road (Dartford-Thurrock
Crossing Charging Scheme) Order, a copy of which can be found under the left hand menu
option "Publications". If you wish to find out more about this scheme, conditions of use and
how to apply, follow the link on the left hand menu named "Exempt Vehicle Registration Scheme".
With effect from 10pm on Saturday 15th November 2008 a new charging scheme, introduced by the Department for Transport, comes into effect for all classes of vehicles using the Dartford-Thurrock Crossing.
